Sticky Chinese Chicken Wings
This recipe is so quick and easy and perfect for busy mid-week nights when you just want to get something healthy on the table to feed the family. Sticky Chinese Chicken Wings are usually popular with most kids too!
The marinade for the wings uses only four ingredients, but you can also add some grated ginger and garlic if you have time (and can be bothered!)
Tamari is soy sauce without wheat and I think it’s a nicer flavour, but you can definitely use soy sauce if that’s what is in the pantry. Try to find a really good quality sweet chilli sauce. Read the labels – some are much better than others! The Undivided Food Co has a sugar-free version.
You can cut the wing tips off and save them for broth or keep them on. You can also cut the wings in half (just cut down the cooking time slightly). Do whatever you prefer.
My hot tip is to only marinate for an hour or less. Anymore than that and the marinade can go watery and not stick to the chicken. The salt in the soy sauce draws moisture out of the chicken.
I have used my new Pork Broth Chinese Rub to add easy flavour without any nasties or additives. There are so many ways you can use it in meals, so I hope you enjoy another way to try it. You can get it in a shaker or in a compostable packaged refill.
These wings are even quicker cooked in the air fryer. Just pop them in a heat-proof dish with all of the marinade and turn once or twice to keep coating in the marinade.
Serve the wings sprinkled with sesame seeds or chopped green shallots. They go nicely with some steamed rice and vegetables or an Asian style cabbage salad.
If you make extra of everything, you can cook a delicious fried rice the next day with the leftover rice and chopped chicken and vegetables. Add more Pork Broth Chinese Rub and tamari! Cold, reheated rice is high in probiotics and resistant starch and you will have an even quicker dinner on the table.
