Onion Bhajis
Thermomix/Conventional Recipe can be doubled

Ingredients
- 2 medium onions or 1 large onion (Thermomix 200g)
- 1 c besan flour (100g) (or mill 100g dried chickpeas)
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- up to ¼ tsp chilli flakes ( I use a pinch)
- up to ¼ tsp black pepper
- 2tbs liquid bone broth mixed with hot water to ½ cup (optional or can use water) Or ½ tsp dried broth)
- ¼ c Olive or Macadamia oil for frying
Instructions
- Thermomix:
- Chop onion sp 5 for 3 secs.
- Set aside.
- Without washing the bowl add the flour, broth (mixed with water to ½ cup) and spices.
- Mix sp 3 for 6 secs.
- This forms a batter.
- Add onion back to bowl and mix reverse speed 2 for 6 secs.
- Heat the oil in a large frypan.
- Once oil is up to frying temp spoon a tbsp at a time into the frypan. Turning after approx 1 to 2 mins each side.
- Conventional:
- Chop onion to consistency desired (ie chopped or sliced)
- In a bowl mix together with a whisk/fork the broth, flour and spices to make a batter.
- Add in the onion.
- Mix well together until all the onion coated.
- Heat the oil in a large frypan.
- Once oil is at frying temp spoon a tbsp at a time into the frypan. Turning after approx 1 to 2 mins each side.
